AUTISM AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Individuals with intellectual, developmental, and trauma disabilities deserve successful social standings, supportive family and community dynamics, and a strong sense of independence. With her background in life span development, Shāna serves clients of all ages, determining if the potential client is a fit for services through a consultation.

Shāna helps clients develop and maintain interpersonal relationships, opportunities for education, and employment throughout the lifespan and does this through teaching social skills, transitioning skills and independent living skills, shadowing (private school), advocacy, and consulting.

Shāna offers support and disability education for family members, close friends of the family, peers, educational institutions, potential employers, government leaders, law-enforcement, religious leaders, first responders, and more.

As an autism specialist with an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) background, she works with a special population to help people maintain their well-being and safety through a person-centered approach to care which meets the needs of the individual, honoring uniqueness in each client.

As a trauma specialist, she looks at the life experiences of the client to meet them where they are.

As a practitioner of transpersonal psychology, she meets, and stays, with the client from their spiritual perspective throughout each session. Spirituality can be a strong point, if that is what fits for the individual.

As a professional in this field, Shāna has more than 20 years-experience in working with this population. Being a person with autism and having several other disabilities, she personally understands the disability journey and can meet clients where they are, providing additional insights to assist and work within family structures, as well as with others close to the individual with disabilities.

As a former Certified Autism Specialist, her focus is sexuality with intellectual, developmental, and trauma disabilities. This background allows Shāna to help clients deepen relationships with themselves and others, while addressing the client's unique concerns. With sexuality, she teaches perspective taking, community awareness, and safety, among many other things. Through Shāna's personalized connections, individuals with intellectual, developmental, and trauma disabilities can have successful social standings, supportive family and community dynamics, and a strong sense of independence.
